Scholastic Media Announces Terrifically Terrifying "Goosebumps" Campaign This Halloween

 

Third annual Get Goosebumps™ media and marketing campaign includes episodes On The Hub and iTunes, multi-city mall tour, and new DVDs & books to support frighteningly fantastic franchise

 

NEW YORK — September 28, 2011 — Scholastic Media, a division of Scholastic Inc. (NASDAQ: SCHL) and licensor for Goosebumps™, the global mega-brand with over 300 million books sold worldwide in 32 languages, launches its third annual “Get Goosebumps” marketing and media campaign in support of the brand this Halloween season. The initiative will feature a multi-city mall tour, airings of the original TV series on The Hub TV network and iTunes, new books from author R.L. Stine, new DVDs from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, in-store events during “Shriek Week,” and more.

Get Goosebumps on TV
September marked the debut of the wildly popular Goosebumps TV series on The Hub TV network, a multi-platform joint venture between Discovery Communications and Hasbro, Inc. Kids of all ages can now enjoy all 80 episodes of Goosebumps, the live-action, half-hour anthology series produced by Scholastic Media that takes place in a strange reality where nothing is ever as it seems. From evil Halloween masks to howling werewolves, spooky scarecrows to life-like dummies, and haunted amusement parks to toy towns that come to life, in Goosebumps, anything can happen. Get Goosebumps at the Mall
Every Saturday throughout October, a variety of free, fright-filled, Goosebumps-inspired activities are available for kids and families in select cities. Fans can enjoy a complete Goosebumps experience with the opportunity to star in and send their own prank “Get Goosebumps” video, play the “Goosebumps HorrorLand” video game and take their picture as a Goosebumps horror. The “Get Goosebumps!” tour includes stops at St. Charles Towne Center (Waldorf, MD) on October 1, Tyrone Square (St. Petersburg, FL) on October 8, Irving Mall (Irving, TX) on October 15, Brea Mall (Brea, CA) on October 22, and Orland Square (Orland Park, IL) on October 29.

Get Goosebumps on DVD
Two new collections of Goosebumps stories, “Attack of the Mutant” and “Ghost Beach” were just released from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Each collection features three tales of horror based on author R.L. Stine’s best-selling book series. In addition to the title episodes featuring an evil, power-mad comic book villain who may really exist, and the legend of a 300-year-old ghost living inside an eerie old cave, these Goosebumps adventures include spooky stories ranging from a terrifying phantom who haunts a school auditorium, to a young girl whose three wishes turn her life into a living nightmare.

Seasons 1 through 4 of the Goosebumps television series are available on the iTunes Store for owners of iPad, iPod Touch®, and other video-capable portable Apple products. Also available for purchase on the iTunes Store is “Goosebumps PhotoShock” a game app for the iPhone™ and iPod touch®, as well as Goosebumps HorrorLand Audiobooks #1-12. Get Goosebumps with books by R.L. Stine
October 2011 will see the release of Why I Quit Zombie School – the newest addition to the wildly popular Goosebumps: Hall of Horrors book series written by R.L. Stine. Other titles in the series include Claws!, Night of the Giant Everything and The Five Masks of Dr. Screem.

The Goosebumps HorrorLand video game is available on Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. Players follow a group of friends trapped in an evil theme park who must make their way through several challenging levels to escape.

Get Goosebumps at The Scholastic Store
Fans can celebrate “Shriek Week 2011” at The Scholastic Store in New York City on October 29. Join the annual Scholastic Halloween parade and see demonstrations of the Goosebumps Wii game.
