Scholastic Media Announces Spookily Spectacular Media and Marketing Campaign for "Goosebumps" This Halloween

 

Second annual "Get Goosebumps™!" campaign includes multi-city mall tour, episodes on iTunes® and new books & DVDs to support the frighteningly fantastic franchise

 

NEW YORK — September 24, 2010 — Scholastic Media, licensor for Goosebumps™, the global mega-brand with over 300 million books sold worldwide in 32 languages, launches its second annual "Get Goosebumps" marketing and media campaign in support of the brand this Halloween season. The initiative will feature a multi-city mall tour, airings of the original TV series on iTunes, new books from author R.L. Stine, new DVDs, in-store events during "Shriek Week," and more.

"We know that children and families 'Get Goosebumps' all year long, but Halloween is the spookiest time to provide kids with even more thrills and chills, and to reach new fans," said Leslye Schaefer, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Consumer Products for Scholastic Media. "'Get Goosebumps!' is part of an aggressive multiplatform strategy that showcases the Goosebumps brand across a variety of entry points."

The campaign will include visibility through the following initiatives:

Get Goosebumps Every Saturday throughout October in select cities, a variety of free, fright-filled, Goosebumps-inspired activities will be available for kids and families. Fans can enjoy a complete Goosebumps experience with the opportunity to star in and send their own prank "Get Goosebumps" video, play the "Goosebumps HorrorLand" video game for the Nintendo Wii, take their picture as a "Goosebumps Horror," and more. The "Get Goosebumps!" tour is sponsored by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and includes stops at the Livingston Mall (Livingston, NJ) on October 2, Northshore Mall (Peabody, MA) on October 9, Stoneridge Shopping Center (Pleasanton, CA) on October 16, Great Lakes Mall (Mentor, OH) on October 23, and North East Mall (Hurst TX) on October 30.

Owners of iPad, iPod Touch®, and other video-capable portable Apple products can now find Seasons 3 and 4 of the Goosebumps television series, which were recently added to the iTunes Store. Seasons 1 and 2 debuted on the store in 2009.

Get Goosebumps on DVD!
Two new collections of Goosebumps stories, The Blob That Ate Everyone and Go Eat Worms! will be released September 7 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Each collection features three tales of horror based on author R.L. Stine’s best-selling book series. In addition to the title episodes featuring a horrible, hungry blob that traps and eats everyone in sight, and an invading hoard of squirming worms that turn up in the most unlikely places, these Goosebumps adventures include spooky stories ranging from an antique typewriter that brings terrifying words to life, to a group of sinister lawn gnomes that terrorizes a neighborhood.

New this month, two classic Goosebumps stories, You Can't Scare Me and Return of the Mummy, release as collector's editions featuring new bonus material – along with two new Goosebumps HorrorLand book titles: The Wizard of Ooze and The Slappy New Year. Audio editions of Goosebumps HorrorLand books #1-6 are available for download on www.audible.com, iTunes.com, playaway.com, and other outlets.
